FUNCTIONS

  • To manage all matters related to student discipline at the University;

  • To advise the Responsibility Centres on student disciplinary issues and recommend actions to be taken regarding any complaint received in relation to a student disciplinary case;

  • To receive investigation reports concerning disciplinary actions against students from the Security Department, the Examination Cheating Committee, the Plagiarism Investigation Committee, and any other Investigation Committees appointed by the University Vice-Chancellor;

  • To ensure that all student disciplinary procedures comply with the provisions of the Universities and University Colleges Act 1976 and the Universiti Sains Malaysia (Student Discipline) Rules, in order to safeguard the University’s interests in the event that decisions of the Student Disciplinary Committee or the Student Disciplinary Appeal Committee are challenged in court;

  • To share knowledge with University students regarding the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU), the Constitution, the Universiti Sains Malaysia (Student Discipline) Rules, and related issues, to ensure compliance with all legal provisions and regulations;

  • To provide briefings to any Responsibility Centre on student disciplinary procedures, handling of evidence, and related matters, including the management of examination cheating cases;

  • To act as Secretariat to the Student Disciplinary Committee (Academic Cases), the Student Disciplinary Committee (General Cases), and the Student Disciplinary Appeal Committee.
